Impact

Delivered with sensitivity to both the natural and built environment, the project transformed St. Mary’s into a more vibrant and connected campus — expanding its capacity to educate, house, and engage students while honouring its heritage and community roots.

Fergal, in his former role, led project management for the redevelopment of St. Mary’s University College, a major campus expansion that included two new facilities — St. Mary’s Heritage Centre and St. Mary’s Central. The 100,000-square-foot project introduced modern academic, residential, and athletic spaces designed to foster connection, learning, and community. The Heritage Centre features a multi-purpose gallery space attached to the campus’s heritage-listed water tower, while St. Mary’s Central includes classrooms, administrative offices, and flexible gathering areas that form the heart of the campus. The development also added a 100-bed residence hall and an ACAC-standard gymnasium, enhancing both student life and university programming.

Larkspur Projects is located in Calgary, on the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy — the Niitsitapi peoples, including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, and Amskapi Piikani. We also acknowledge the shared lands of the Tsuut’ina (Dene) and the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney) Nations — Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney. This is also the homeland of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, including Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Districts 5 and 6.

The place we now call Calgary has long been known as Moh’kins’tsis by the Blackfoot, Guts’ists’i by the Tsuut’ina, and Wîchîspa by the Îyârhe Nakoda. We recognize, honour, and give thanks to the original caretakers of this land, and commit ourselves to building respectful relationships with the peoples whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to shape this place.
