Impact

Improving quality and functionality of Calgary’s largest shelter portfolio to better support vulnerable residents.

Larkspur is coordinating the modernization of five Calgary Drop-In Centre facilities to strengthen housing stability and improve the quality of spaces serving people transitioning out of homelessness. The portfolio includes upgrades and renovations to the main shelter, Sundial Apartments, Greenview Rise Apartments, Bridgeland Apartments, and the Donation Centre. Our role spans project planning, design coordination, securing multi-level government funding, development of a portfolio-based rental strategy, and oversight of construction using a construction management approach.

This work ensures each building is right-sized, financially sustainable, and aligned with the DI’s long-term housing strategy. Renovations focus on creating safe, dignified, and trauma-informed environments that better support individuals on their housing journey.

Larkspur Projects is located in Calgary, on the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy — the Niitsitapi peoples, including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, and Amskapi Piikani. We also acknowledge the shared lands of the Tsuut’ina (Dene) and the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney) Nations — Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney. This is also the homeland of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, including Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Districts 5 and 6.

The place we now call Calgary has long been known as Moh’kins’tsis by the Blackfoot, Guts’ists’i by the Tsuut’ina, and Wîchîspa by the Îyârhe Nakoda. We recognize, honour, and give thanks to the original caretakers of this land, and commit ourselves to building respectful relationships with the peoples whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to shape this place.
