Impact

The Bethany Care Centre will provide 420 new beds for seniors in need of long-term care and hospital services, expanding capacity and improving access to high-quality care for Calgary’s aging population.

Fergal, through his former role, developed and executed an innovative public-private partnership (P3) procurement strategy for the development of a new 420-bed long-term care centre and auxiliary hospital for Bethany Care Society. His work included shaping the project delivery model, managing stakeholder alignment, supporting functional programming, and guiding the procurement and negotiation process to secure the partnership structure necessary for a project of this scale.

Now under construction, the development represents one of the most significant investments in seniors’ care in Alberta. Once complete, the new Bethany Care Centre will expand access to high-quality, culturally responsive, and community-integrated care — supporting seniors and families across Calgary with dignity, stability, and connection.

Larkspur Projects is located in Calgary, on the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy — the Niitsitapi peoples, including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, and Amskapi Piikani. We also acknowledge the shared lands of the Tsuut’ina (Dene) and the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney) Nations — Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney. This is also the homeland of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, including Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Districts 5 and 6.

The place we now call Calgary has long been known as Moh’kins’tsis by the Blackfoot, Guts’ists’i by the Tsuut’ina, and Wîchîspa by the Îyârhe Nakoda. We recognize, honour, and give thanks to the original caretakers of this land, and commit ourselves to building respectful relationships with the peoples whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to shape this place.
